What is our stance on proper Theology?
“Contrary to this growing popular opinion…..you can love theology/be a theologian, scholar, love discipleship, and teaching….and still move in glory and power…casting out demons and seeing the sick healed (Mark 1:21-27).
The anti-intellectualism hinders many who are called to be a resource and gift to the body.
Yes, it matters where you study and who you study with but, theology and glory are meant to flow together not be at odds. The doctors of the early church were also practitioners, not just observers—Orthodoxy with Orthopraxy.
Everyone does not have to be a theologian, but we should all be disciples shaped by the Scriptures. I will restate again, that the early church emphasized four major points of discipleship according to scholar Clinton Arnold which included being shaped in theology to prepare new converts to be prophetic witnesses in hostile culture):
1. Immersion in the Word (the doctors of the church were heavily involved)
2. Teach central doctrines of the faith (The Creeds)
3. Spiritual and Moral Formation
4. Deliverance Ministry
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed (metamorphoō)
by the renewal (anakainōsis) of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Our mind (how we think and view the world) is renewed and renovated by the work of the Spirit)….not thrown away so@everyonee transfigured from one degree of glory to another.
2 Corinthians 3:18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed (metamorphoō) into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. “
